The gays' Super Bowl...The OSCARS!

Well last night was one of my favorite nights of the year...The Oscars! Love the Academy Awards! and last night was even more awesome to share it with my bestest GF's Mel, Lori, and especially my movieGF Heidi Ho (who dresses up as Juno, and looked just like her). I attempted a 'Michael Clayton' look and Andy a 'There will be Blood' man. We had some great Oscar food too: 'Sweeny Todd' meat pies, 'Eastern Promises' russian goulash, 'No Country for Old Men' texan chili, 'There Will be Blood' red velvet cupcakes and 'Juno' meatball sliders and Sunny Delight mimosas!

So even though I was cheering for 'Atonement' and secretly hoping for 'Juno', 'No Country for Old Men' won. Atleast it wasn't 'There will be blood', which neither Noel or I liked...though Daniel Day-Lewis was amazing...I hated the score! Thank God 'Atonement' won best score (think typewriter and violins) and 'Juno' best screenplay (think "they're not worried about me, what other shanagan's could I get into at this point")...both totally deserved. And that Marion Cotillard for 'La Vie en Rose'...WOW! Tres bien! >>> www.oscar.com/nominees/

And then there were the men. Love that Colin Ferrel introduced the beautiful song from 'Once', but just loved him more...GRRRR! There is something about that man, so dirty, so black Irish! Gotta get to Dublin!

Right now I am watching the Tonight Show, and how 'bout that Eric Bana? From Ireland to Australia. G'day mate! Eric just won the Australian Academy Awards for best actor for the little Aussie movie called 'Romulus, My Father' (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0462023/)

Sure love the nephews!

So today was my middle nephew Caleb's 8th birthday...and it was also a big basketball game of his. He seemed so grown up. I don't think most of us called my sister because I don't know who was more surprised Lisa or Caleb that much of the family showed up for the basketball game? Chelsea and Adam picked me up, and as soon as we arrived at this little elementary somewhere deep in the wooded hills of Woodinville, Lisa and fam drove up...her, Caleb the b-day boy, Jordan 10, Joshua 5 and Perry, along with Nana (my mom)...when we walked in we found Mary Lou, Perry's Mom, and Kendra, his sis and hubby. Then Dad walked in with Mar on his side. Yes it was a regular ole family reunion of sorts.

So I was thinking this could be awkward but it wasn't...infact after the game there was an hour and half to kill before the Jordan's 1:30 game and we all went to lunch at Molbaks Cafe in Woodinville. Kinda weird to have lunch with my Dad on one side, and my Mom on the other. It's just that is only happens once every 10 years or so. What is that? Once in a blue moon, as they say?

So Jordan played his game which was a bunch of aggressive 10 year olds, and a very good nail-bitting game to the last 30 seconds. After the second game we all ended up opening Calebs presents in the elementary school parking lot...because we were all going our separate ways and Lisa needed to go home and vacuum for the onslaught of 8 years coming over 2 hours later for a backwards birthday party (wear your clothes backwards, have the cake upsidedown and eat it first, walk backwards, etc.)

What a fun day! I love when life throws you an amazing moment. My heart is full.

Now my heart is even fuller, because now I am home and Noel just walked in was a huge bouquet of tulips for me! It's our 1 year anniversary (actually tomorrow) and it's extra special since he knows I love tulips but he is allegic. Guess once we cohabitate this may be my last tulips I'll ever get to have out...but I don't care, I'd rather have Noel over any stupid flowers...though did I mention how much I love them?

Get a Voki now!

Happy V-Day!

Ahhhh...love is in the air. Happy Valentine's Day to all.

Yes today is overrated, and pretty much a fabricated Hallmark/FTD Florist holiday, but it still makes me happy when I see a bouquet of flowers on someones desk, or watch a bunch of city folk going to work in red sweaters, dresses, scarves and ties. I just love when people celebrate any holiday I guess. I want to see green on St.Patty's day for instance. Thank God Chicago makes their river green on March 17th!

Back to V-Day, it's overrated but somehow is so much better when you have someone there to share it with...not even the flowers or the dinner, but just to be there, and knowing that that love is 24/7 365 days a year. I am so excited I have Noel to share the day, or atleast the night with. I love him dearly and I can't wait to do nothing with him tonight...just being there.

>>> Sidenote: when I worked in Vallarta at Viva Joyeria, and did the window displays I always tried to bring a little holiday spirit to the mannequins, to the store. Halloween, I replaced their heads with Jack O'Lanterns, Christmas with santa hats, and on Valentine's Day...CANDY HEART HATS>>> The owner, Mary Sue, loved it so much she had me make more candy heart hats for our live models to tour the local resturants. Mary Sue passed away last March, so this blog passage goes out to her and her spirit! Love you Mary Sue.

People are growing up all around me!

People are growing up all around me...INCLUDING ME!

I started noticing these 'grown up' changes about 6 months ago with my GF Carrie, who got married in September also announced around then suddenly she was preggers! Yes, beautiful Carrie is expecting (she's actually quite big now, due on 3/24, and looking beautiful). Then this last week I found out that cutey Moon is also expecting...a Labor Day baby! Now we're gonna have the cutest little pregnant asian chick running around the 16th floor at Nordy.com all summer. Then after all this baby stuff all around me, I get a call from my BFF Heidi vacationing in Paris...after 3 years her BF Andy proposed! Under the Arc de Triomphe on the Champs de l'Essey! MH HEIDI HO IS GETTING HITCHED!!! YEAH! It's about time Andy. LOL. And I also can't forget my other GF in Toronto who also just got engaged, and she's 50! (sorry Jewels but you are on the other end of the spectrum, to make my point).

So when I say 'growing up' I just mean major life changes with my friends who are in their thirties or fourties. Alot of my close friends just seem to be where I am mentally and/or financially...been through those serious relationships before, or the shared house before, etc...but back to being single and trying to figure it out in their 30's and 40's. Always feeling like their there and then have to start over again. It is the state of the 21st century, like the gals in 'Sex in the City'...and then there is me on the cusp of 40 myself... I had the great 7 year relationship with Terry in the 90's, with the house, and the life, and I learned so much about me and about life. Then the 5 years with Zac in the early 2000's and again learned so much more about me and the world...Zac took me to that next level by living outside of the US...but here I am again starting over with Noel...

I am excited but freaking out that sooner than later I may be a home owner with Noel. We went out again with John, our realator, to look at townhouses in Ballard and Noel is seriously considering making an offer on a cute one on 58th just a 5 minute walk from the heart of Market Street. GULP! So then we went to Terry to talk about the morgage and what we really can afford, with the principle and downpayments and adjustable yadah yadahs? Finally we ended up at Best Buy pricing out stackable washer/dryers, fridges, and flat screen HDTV's...I am so excited, 'I'm growing up too' (again), but MY HEAD IS SPINNING. The boyfriend, the cohabitations, the home owner responsibilities...I need to do this, I want to do this....I CAN DO THIS!

Stay tuned...babies, and weddings, and homes in the near future!!!

Proenza Schouler...love gay designers!

Love Lazaro and Jack of Proenza Schouler designer! They are so cute and make beautiful designs together (and are gay). We added a taste of them last July during our Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and now there is more to come. To the right they are excepting an award with Oscar de la Renta >>> http://nymag.com/nymetro/shopping/fashion/features/n_8809/

And then there is Marc Jacobs...hottie! well established and very interesting guy. Love his line, especially the current Trunk Show of mine I have online at Nordstrom.com (live until 3/3/08: http://shop.nordstrom.com/C/6014152/0~2376780~6009391~6013427~6013431~6014152), oh and he's gay too! http://www.marcjacobs.com/ <>

Finally loving the Zac Posen! He's so young, but amazing looks!

...oh, and also gay!

Pet Peeves...atleast this week

I so don't want my blog to always be bitching about things...but it's so fun.

SCOOTER'S TOP 10 PET PEEVE LIST:

10 - people expecting me to function in the morning before 10am...especially my boss

9 - the writers strike cancelling the Golden Globes, but hopefully not the Oscars

8 - hurrying to a movie only to find out it is sold out

7 - planning your evening around your favorite TV show only to find out it isn't on or is a repeat you've already seen

6 - people on cell phones, weather walking or in their car, and being oblivious, total idiots, so inconsiderate. okay, we are all guilty of this atleast once...but some I swear are all the time. "Pay attention and drive!"

5 - the more I run and excersize and seem to be watching my caloric intake, the more I feel fat, unhealthy and old.

4 - on a crowded bus, the one urine/b.o. smelling street person who has long yellow blackened nails and 5 packed Bartell's bags posing as their luggage, sits right next to you...and then coughs a flemmy cough! uhg!

3 - my constant skin agrevations

2 - hearing it's going to snow over night, and when you wake up...you slowly open you eyes, saunter to the window and ever so gently crack the blinds...only to find out it warmed up to 38 and rained. SAD!

1 - so I am at the gym, on a treadmill with a couple unused on either side of me, watching the TV above (while listening to my iPod), just minding my own business...and this girl gets on the treadmill right next to me, appearing out of no where. She gets out the master remote, and with no eye contact and no questions of whether I care or am watching...and she turns the channel to FSN (fox spots network) to a friggen WSU basketball game...oh goody sports of all things. Ok, so I was watching a VH1 show "Snoop Dog's Father'HOOD' " and didn't care about it at all, but that is not the point. I wanted to grab the remote out of her hand and whack her over the head with it. She was inconsiderate. PEOPLE CAN BE SO INCONSIDERATE! Why can't we all just get along?

HAPPY GROUND HOG'S DAY!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOMMAS!

So my Mom is off on a boat with her soon to be, maybe,  ex-husband. But I wanted to give her a call out anyways. I think she left because she knows she's gonna get the same present she got last year for her 60th, because she still hasn't got it...A ride in a friggen hot air balloon! 4th times a charm?

The real question is...did the groundhog and/or my mother see her shadow or not???
